Cleanse, Hydrate and Protect

Good skincare is as simple as 1, 2, 3 – Cleanse, Hydrate, Protect!

Skincare can be as complicated as you make it, but good skincare starts with just three simple steps: Cleanse, Hydrate and Protect. After that you can build in exfoliation, masques, serums and so on, according to your unique skincare needs. But if you don’t have the basics right, your skin will not be at its best.

As a starting point, it is important to use formulations which are pure and gentle, particularly if you have dry, sensitive or eczema-prone skin. Elave Skincare is wholly made in Ireland and provides a complete solution for any skin type, but is particularly suitable for fine Type I and Type II skin.

Our formulas omit any harsh ingredients that might trigger reactions in sensitive skin. These include alcohol, scents, dye, MI, sulfates and parabens. Since our products are safe for even the most reactive skin, you can use them with confidence. They are also 96% vegan and 100% cruelty and gluten-free.

Cleansing: deep clean your skin twice daily to rid it of all the impurities it encounters  including dirt, oil and makeup, and to promote clear, healthy, glowing skin. Failing to establish a proper cleansing routine means your skin will be more liable to drying, premature ageing, blocked pores and breakouts.

If your skin feels dry and tight you are using the wrong cleanser

Cream cleansers are ideal for dry skin, as their thicker texture means they tends to be more hydrating. If you have oily or acne-prone skin, you may find that either a foam or gel cleanser is the best option for you. If your skin feels dry and tight, or breaks out, after using a formula, then it is not the right one for you.

Hydration: moisturisers work by increasing the water content in the skin’s outermost layer, enhancing its ability to hold water and so relieving dryness. It also covers small skin fissures, providing a soothing protective film that protects skin from friction. Dry skin looks dull, rough, red and scaly. When your face is properly moisturised, it will look plumper, smoother, brighter and younger.

Apply a facial moisturiser twice daily - in the morning after cleansing, and in the evening, between cleansing and going to bed. Stick to tepid, not hot, water to avoid further dehydration and lightly exfoliate with a soft washcloth or cotton pad to slough off dead skin cells. Apply moisturiser while your face is slightly damp to help with absorption and create a barrier to protect your skin.

Sensitive skin is more likely to burn and needs year-round protection

Protection: sensitive skin is particularly vulnerable to sun damage, especially for anyone who works outdoors or enjoys outdoor sports. The UV index is typically low enough between September and March in Ireland for SPF30 to provide adequate coverage, but during the summer months, and particularly if going for a sunshine break, use broad spectrum SPF45 and SPF50+.

All sunscreens protect against UVB rays, which are the main cause of sunburn and skin cancers, but SPF does not apply to UVA rays, which are also harmful. A broad spectrum formulation provides infrared thermal protection against both sorts of rays  by including vitamins, botanicals and antioxidants to neutralize free radicals and promote repair.

Elave Skin Balancing Essentials is a super value kit of three skincare formulations designed to be used together to nourish and protect dry, sensitive and reactant Irish skin. This handy pack contains three vitamin and bio extract-infused formulations to cater for all your basic skincare needs: a cleansing gel, a moisturiser, and a daily SPF skin defence.

A proper routine promotes healthy, glowing facial skin

Step 1: Elave Skin Balancing Cleansing Gel offers a unique blend of natural foaming cleansers, camomile and antimicrobial Manuka honey to remove daily residue, oil, make-up and impurities. Camomile is a soothing herb that improves blood circulation in tissue and can reduce inflammation.  Manuka honey keeps skin hydrated and has antimicrobial properties which discourage spots.

Step 2: Elave Skin Balancing Moisturiser with vitamins B5 & E, glycerin and hyaluronic acid, restores the skin’s natural balance without stripping out the natural oils or blocking pores. Moisturisers work by increasing the water content in the skin’s outermost layer, enhancing its ability to hold water and so relieving dryness. Moisturising also covers small skin fissures, providing a soothing protective film that protects skin from friction. When your face is properly moisturised, it will look plumper, smoother, brighter and younger.

Step 3: Elave Daily Skin Defence SPF45 No.108 50ml is a multi award-winning dual action moisturiser and sunscreen which guarantees very high UVA/UVB protection all year round. This invisible zinc, non-comedogenic formula is absorbed quickly into the skin to hydrate and help repair environmental skin damage. An SPF of 45 helps guards against the signs of UV exposure such as dark spots, roughness and loss of elasticity. Use over or instead of a moisturiser.

Whatever your needs, Elave Face has a full range of formulations created specially for your skin. Match with products from the Elave Dermatological and Elave Sun ranges for full top-to-toe protection - and get the confidence that comes from ELAVE. Happy. Skin. all 365 days of the year.
